My time at Home ReSource has been filled with wide ranging projects from redesigning the volunteer program to hosting a livestream of Spontaneous Construction, an annual event where teams build funky and functional projects from reused materials. Through COVID-19, I adjusted my role and became the core staff digital content creator. Scroll down to see examples of my work!

Volunteer Program

My primary role at Home ReSource has been streamlining and updating their volunteer program. Click here to visit the volunteer page I made on their website and see the plans and digital content I created below.

I was the volunteer coordinator for Home ReSource through the first eight months of the COVID-19 pandemic. We reopened to volunteers in mid-July, and to help streamline the orientation process I created the volunteer safety protocol video below.

Newsletters

From March – November 2020 I created Home ReSource’s weekly newsletter “Featured Items of the Week” using MailerLite. The process included graphic designs for announcements, taking photos of items around the store, choosing photo captions and occasionally writing the headers.

I also built Home ReSource’s new monthly newsletter “Home ReSourcery” from the ground up. I created everything from the altered logo, layout, font, and all other design elements then adapted the design based on feedback from the marketing team. I always had help from other Home ReSource staff members in generating the written content, but click the image below to read the second edition where I wrote and designed almost the entire newsletter.

Events

Spontaneous Construction

Home ReSource hosts an event every year where teams of people come in and build funky projects from reused materials. During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic we had to make some adjustments to meet social distancing guidelines, so I filmed and hosted a nine-hour livestream of the event. Check out a portion of the video below and click the title to read more about SponCon!

Annual Auction

After SponCon, Home ReSource auctions off items in their biggest annual fundraiser. Typically, the auction is hosted in the Wilma in downtown Missoula and sees a pretty spectacular attendance rate. However, due to COVID-19, this year Home ReSource hosted a week-long online silent auction instead. To kick things off, I created a thirty minute video with the help of two local actors where we staged a fake shopping channel to show off some of the items up for grabs. Check it out below!

Missoula Gives

I helped Home ReSource host and promote their Missoula Gives fundraiser. Check out the social media graphics and “Thank You” video I created and feel free to give to Home ReSource by clicking the title above!

Web Design

One of Home ReSource’s most popular programs is the Zero Waste Ambassador Program or ZWAP! Again, due to COVID-19, the program had to be adapted and I helped our Energy Corps member Hillary create an online version of the entire curriculum for teachers in Missoula to use. I also created all of the content and designs for Home ReSource’s current volunteer page. Click the image above or on this link to see the page, and consider volunteering for one of the coolest sustainability non-profits around!
